Meet Dr. Cantor
Dr. Richard J. Cantor is a Board Certified Specialist in the field of orthodontics. He received his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine. He completed a general practice residency at Eastman Dental Center of the University of Rochester and a pediatric dental internship and residency at Harvard’s Children’s Hospital. Dr. Cantor obtained his orthodontic certificate at Eastman Dental Center, University of Rochester.
Dr. Cantor continues to expand his orthodontic education by attending yearly conferences held by the American Board of Orthodontics College of Diplomates, the American Association of Orthodontists and various technique courses. Dr. Cantor has completed courses in the Invisalign® Master program, the Clear Aligner Fellowship program and the Invisalign® Teen Master program.
Personal Involvement
Dr. Cantor is a public lecturer and has achieved his Board Certification by the American Board of Orthodontics. He is a past president of the Pennsylvania Association of Orthodontists and Carlisle Cares About Youth Program. He has also volunteered for the local youth soccer and baseball leagues. Outside of the office, Dr. Cantor enjoys skiing, wave running and hiking. He has three sons and is an avid Pittsburgh Panthers, Steelers, Pirates and Penguins fan. As a young boy, Dr. Cantor was one of the winners in naming the new hockey franchise the Penguins!

Cierra, Orthodontic Treatment Assistant
Cierra is thrilled to be part of Cantor and Team Orthodontics as a Treatment Assistant, bringing her many years of experience in the dental field to the practice. She takes pride in her role, finding joy in helping patients feel confident and happy with their smiles. Outside of the office, Cierra is excitedly to welcome her baby girl in late January. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family and relaxing with her cuddly dog, Benji.
Cindy, Scheduling Coordinator
With over 24 years of orthodontic experience, Cindy has spent much of her career as a Treatment Coordinator and now serves as the Scheduling Coordinator at Cantor and Team Orthodontics. For more than five years, Cindy has been the friendly face and voice welcoming patients, ensuring every interaction begins with a warm smile.
Outside of the office, Cindy cherishes time with her husband, their two adult daughters, and three grandchildren. She enjoys relaxing with her family and their dog, Molly, at their cabin in the mountains or by the beach. Cindy is also an avid reader who loves escaping into a great book.
Joan, Orthodontic Treatment Room Coordinator
With over 20 years of experience working alongside Dr. Cantor, Joan brings expertise and a warm, welcoming presence to our office. Her passion for creating smiles and her joyful spirit make her an integral part of our team. Outside of work, Joan enjoys spending time with her husband and two sons, attending their sporting events, and caring for the family’s beloved farm animals. She also loves relaxing by the beach whenever she gets the chance.
Laura Smulktis, Orthodontic Treatment Coordinator
As the Treatment Coordinator at Cantor and Team Orthodontics, Laura brings a wealth of experience from her background as a business owner. Her dedication to understanding patients’ needs and exceeding their expectations makes her an invaluable part of the team. Laura takes great joy in working with families to guide them through their orthodontic journey and witnessing the transformative results.
Outside the office, Laura and her husband love spending time with their three children and five grandchildren. She also enjoys landscaping, refinishing furniture, and learning the art of upholstery. When it comes to staying active, hiking, skiing, and pickleball are among her favorite pastimes.
McKenna, Lab Technician & Treatment Assistant
McKenna plays a key role at Cantor and Team as our dedicated Lab Technician and Treatment Assistant. She enjoys interacting with patients and continuously expanding her knowledge about braces and beyond by working closely with Dr. Cantor. Outside the office, McKenna loves exploring new places through travel, hiking, attending concerts, or simply relaxing at home with her husband and their faithful beagle, Zelda.
Sandy, Financial Coordinator & Office Manager
Sandy has been an integral part of Cantor and Team Orthodontics for 27 years, serving as the Financial Coordinator and Office Manager. She takes great pride in helping patients achieve their dream smiles and finds joy in witnessing the transformations throughout their orthodontic journeys.
Outside of work, Sandy enjoys spending time with her two sons and family, caring for her golden retriever, Lexi, and unwinding on a sunny southern beach. Her dedication to both her patients and loved ones reflects her warm and caring nature.
